Today, this rich ecosystem is facing multiple threats to its existence. 20% of the Amazon biome has already been lost, and this trend will worsen if it keeps going this way.

the amazon rainforest produces 6% of the world’s oxygen while simultaneously absorbing large amounts of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. Its deforestation does not only have a big effect on climate change, but it also affects the unique species of plants and animals that are native from the forest.

the amazon rainforest has been facing deforestation for decades, the main cause of this problem being cattle ranching. an increasing proportion of deforestation is driven by industrial activities and large-scale agriculture.
